How much does a business website cost in India?

A breakdown of what actually drives website pricing for small and mid-sized Indian businesses — from a basic WordPress build to a fully custom application, with typical price bands.

Start a project

There is no single number that answers this honestly — a five-page brochure site and a booking platform with payments are different projects wearing the same word, "website." What follows is a realistic breakdown of what actually drives the price in the Indian market, so you can tell where a quote sits before you get one.

Typical price bands

These are broad, general ranges for the Indian market as of 2026, not a fixed quote — actual pricing depends on scope, content readiness, and the developer or agency involved. Treat them as a sanity check, not a promise.

₹15,000–₹60,000: a template-based WordPress or website-builder site — a handful of pages, standard design, a contact form. Fast to launch, limited room for a distinct brand identity.

₹60,000–₹2,50,000: a custom-designed WordPress or React site — brand-specific design, more pages, on-page SEO setup, often a blog or portfolio section. The range is wide because design complexity and page count vary enormously.

₹2,50,000 and up: a site with real application logic — bookings, payments, user accounts, custom checkout flows, or anything closer to software than a brochure. Pricing here tracks engineering effort, not page count.

The three broad tiers

A template-based WordPress site — a handful of pages, a contact form, standard design — is the cheapest and fastest option, and is usually enough for a business that mainly needs to exist online credibly and be found on Google.

A custom-designed WordPress or React site — brand-specific design, more pages, on-page SEO setup, maybe a blog or portfolio — costs more because of the design and content-structuring work, not the platform itself.

A site with real application logic — bookings, payments, user accounts, a multi-step process like WooCommerce checkout customization — is priced closer to software than to a website, because that is what it is.

What actually moves the price within a tier

Number of unique page templates, not total pages. Ten pages that all reuse one layout cost far less than five pages that each need their own design.

How much content is ready before development starts. Waiting on copy and images mid-build is the single most common cause of both delay and scope creep.

Integrations — payment gateways, booking logic, CRM or WhatsApp API connections — each add real engineering time beyond the visual build.

Whether SEO is bolted on after launch or built in from the start. Retrofitting technical SEO onto a finished site is more expensive than doing it during the build.

Questions worth asking before you compare quotes

Does the quote include mobile responsiveness testing, or is that assumed and skipped?

Is basic on-page SEO (titles, meta descriptions, heading structure) included, or a separate line item?

Who owns the code and content after handover — can you take it to another developer later without a rebuild?

What happens after launch — is there a support window, or is every future change a new invoice?

Does it cost more to work with a remote team?

Not inherently. A remote-first team has lower fixed overhead than one carrying office rent, which more often shows up as competitive pricing than a premium.

What it does change is process: expect a written scope before work starts, scheduled check-ins instead of drop-in meetings, and sign-off on deliverables in writing at each stage — since nothing else holds the project together without a shared office to fall back on.
